PITTSBURGH, pa -- The Pitt Panthers (12-5, 2-2 ACC) faced another tough test early in their ACC schedule as the No. 11 ranked Florida State Seminoles (13-4, 1-3 ACC) came into the Peterson Events Center to do battle Monday night.
The Seminoles jumped out to an early 6-0 lead thanks to a three by Phil Cofer and a layup by Terrance Mann. The Panthers went 0-for-8 shooting from the field to start the game before finally cashing in on two free throws by Xavier Johnson. That became the story for the entire duration of the game. Pitt made 38 of 46 free throws compared to Florida State's 20 of 27. The Seminoles could not get out of their own way when it came to sending the Panthers to the free throw line and that is what ultimately became the difference maker to give Pitt the 75-62 victory.
